Directed by Ruben Östlund, Involuntary interweaves five stories about group behaviour: an injured host doesn't want to spoil the party; a coach driver refuses to drive his damaged vehicle; two teenage girls pose for sexy photos; a man is afraid to seem gay to his friends; a teacher feels excluded by her colleagues. The Swedish filmmaker smartly reflects on group mentality and normative social influence, reminding us that human beings are, after all, just herd animals.
