What Difference Does it Make? is a feature documentary about the choice of becoming a musician: following the young participants of the Red Bull Music Academy's 2013 session in New York, the film includes interviews with many famous avant­garde musicians such as Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Giorgio Moroder and others. Directed by Ralf Schmerberg, this street­style film describes the process of making music, perfectly capturing the essence of New York's brilliant artistic scene.

Ralf Schmerberg is an internationally acclaimed director and a founder of the Berlin-based artist collective Mindpirates. He has created feature films and music videos for the past 20 years, establishing a signature visual style that has earned him a Cannes Gold Lion and the Cinema for Peace Award. In 2012, he was named Germany’s Creative Leader Of The Year. His distinctive close-up and personal aesthetic can be seen throughout What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music.
