Started as author of documentaries (e.g. feature-length trilogy Tenkrát, focusing on modern Czech history; or two-part documentary V hlavní roli Gustáv Husák). He then established himself as fiction films director; he won the Czech Lion Award for best screenplay for his debut film Pravidla lži. His second film was called Muži v říji. A slightly autobiographical comedy Největší z Čechů tells the story of a film director who, instead of making the film he dreams about, is commissioned with a documentary about bizarre Czech record holders. His latest film, Rodina je základ státu, premieres in Czech cinemas in October 2011. Among the projects he is currently working on is an unusual "drama documentary" about the notorious Czech politician Jiří Čunek.
