Fresh Film Fest will present new Sundance winner

Fresh Film Fest will, as every year, present many features awarded on foreign film festivals. Many of the films screened will be either Czech premiere, or won't go into the distribution at all. One of these films is war documentary Restrepo, this years' Sundance film festival winner, that portrays an american troop in one of the world's most dangerous areas in Afghanistan.

One of the most awaited films of the festival was shot by Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington. Restrepo with it's theme may remind the war documentary Armadillo, which was screened at this year's festival in Karlovy Vary. It is a suggestive war diary edited after an annual shoot in Korangal Valley in Afghanistan. According to CNN this is one of the least safe places in the world. No interviews with generals and diplomats, the cameras don't leave the valley. It is a unique reportage film that gives viewers the feeling of a full 94 minute effort. This is war, period. Rest is up to you.

Both authors, Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington, cooperate with the magazine Vanity Fair. Sebastian Junger is documenting the situation in Afghanistan since 1996, and he is the author of international bestseller The Perfect Storm and War. Tim Hetherington focuses on war issues for more than a decade, in 2008, he won a World Press Photo award for his work in Afghanistan.
