Master Class : Pia Marais

After a number of short films, one of our jurors Pia Marais started her series of festival successes with her very first feature that won the Tiger Award in Rotterdam 2007. At Fresh Film Fest she will present her film At Ellen’s Age shot within the project of artistic residency at Cannes and premiered in Locarno 2010 and her film Layla Fourie that got the Special Mention at Berlinale 2013.
Master Class will be moderated by the speaker and editor of the Czech Radio Pavel Sladký.

Young Finnish director Juho Kuosmanen is coming to Prague to present his feature debut The happiest day of my life Olli Maki which was awarded as the best film of Un Certain Regard section at Cannes in 2016. The intention of Franz Rodenkirchen is to help define the right kind of focus when approaching scriptwriting: looking at it from the inside, considering mainly artistic and narrative intents rather than a set of external factors (fixed rules to define good vs bad scripts, commercial pressures, taste of the audience, box-office-success).Full article
