Michaela Pavlátová (1961, Czech Republic)

Director, screenplay writer, animator. Her animated films received many prestigeous international awards. Her film Řeči, řeči, řeči (Talk, talk, talk, 1991) won Oscar nomination. Repete (1995) won the Golden Bear award at Berlinale 1995 in the short film category. In 2000, she made her debut in the feature film with a short story Absolutní láska (Absolute Love) from the story series Praha očima (Prague through the Eyes…, 1999). She directed this film and wrote the screenplay. Her feature film Nevěrné hry (Unfaithful Games, 2003) won the Special Jury Prize at the International Film Festival in San Sebastian, the Golden Kingfisher Prize at the Finale festival in Plzeň and the Don Quijote prize at the Film festival in Cottbus. Her feature film Děti noci (Children of the Night, 2008) won prizes for the best man and woman actor at the IFF Karlovy Vary and the main prize at the Niesse Film festival in Germany.
