Jaroslav Rudiš (1972, Czech Republic)
He is a writer and also a screen and play writer. His first novel, Nebe pod Berlínem (2002), won the Jiri Orten Award. His comic book trilogy, Alois Nebel (2003-2005), which is now being adapted for the big screen, was also very successful. He is the co-author, with Petr Pýcha, of plays Léto v Laponsku (2005, Alfréd Radok Award and Czech Radio Award) and Strange Love (2007). He also wrote a screenplay based on his second book Grandhotel (2006, Magnesia Litera Award, Kanzelsberger Readers’ Award for best book of 2007). His third novel, Potichu (2007), tells five stories from contemporary Prague. He is currently working on his next book. With poet Igor Malijevsky he hosts EKG, a literary show, in Archa theater and occasionally performs with groups U-Bahn and Jaromír 99 & The Bombers.
